Hi, I’m Amanda — a psychologist and holistic health practitioner passionate about supporting people to improve their emotional wellbeing, resilience, and overall quality of life. I believe effective therapy is built on genuine connection, feeling understood, and having a space where you can openly explore challenges without judgement. My approach combines evidence-based psychology with a holistic understanding of wellbeing, recognising the connection between mental, emotional, and physical health. My goal is to provide a supportive and professional environment where clients feel comfortable, empowered, and equipped with practical strategies to create meaningful and lasting change.

More than just a psychologist

My journey to becoming a psychologist and holistic health practitioner has not been a straight line, but one shaped by both professional experience and personal insight.

I have worked in a variety of roles since the age of 13, and in my adult career I worked as a job network case manager after university, supporting people with complex needs and disabilities to access education, training, and employment. After completing my degree, I undertook an internship with Centrelink as a job capacity assessor/psychologist, gaining a lot of experience around assessment and counselling. I also developed a deep understanding about medical illnesses and disabilities and the impacts this can have on people's mental health and everyday functioning. I have since worked in various roles as a counsellor and psychologist within employment services. I have also worked with Queensland Health, where I gained experience in drug and alcohol services as well as mental health. I have worked in Indigenous health, having had the privilege to immerse myself in Indigenous culture and community. I have supported children as a community visitor, providing oversight and advocacy for children in care.

I have served in the Army Reserves in the transport section driving trucks and providing logistic support, which taught me perseverance, teamwork, and the importance of serving the community with reliability and integrity. I would like to acknowledge and express my deep respect for our veterans, emergency service personnel, and frontline workers, and the sacrifices they make each day in service to our communities. This includes the physical and psychological demands they carry, often in silence. I hold appreciation for service members and frontline workers, and feel privileged to support their mental health and wellbeing.

Over the past eight years, I have been studying and practicing a range of holistic modalities, including usui reiki, kundalini reiki (master), kinesiology, and other energy healing approaches. During this time, I have run my own holistic practice, including continued work as a counsellor. This has allowed me to support people in a more personalised, holistic  and integrative way I feel.

Due to being struck down myself unexpectedly with a physical injury and then several degenerative chronic inflammatory illnesses. I went on a deep dive into natural holistic practices to overcome my own healing crisis. After overcoming all of my ailments I continued to learn various healing modalities that initially aimed to help myself, but later became of benefit to others. My own health journey changed the way I understand overall wellbeing and ultimately led me toward a more holistic approach in my practices. I had the opportunity to really understand the connection between mental, physical, spiritual and emotional health.

I bring this perspective into my work, with the aim of supporting clients not only to manage difficulties, but also to build resilience, develop insight, and strengthen their sense of self.

My work is grounded in the belief that every person deserves to feel heard, respected, and understood. I take a compassionate, person-centred approach, working alongside each individual at their own pace and recognising that people are the experts in their own lives. I view wellbeing holistically, understanding that mental health is connected to emotional, physical, social, spiritual and cultural wellbeing. I aim to support the whole person with practical steps with an approach that focuses on strengths and capacity building. My approach supports self empowerment in your healing.

I believe that healing and growth occurs best in a safe, supportive environment built on trust, compassion, and genuine human connections. My approach focuses on empowering the individual towards steps that create meaningful change.

I am committed to culturally respectful practice and honour the importance of culture, community, and lived experience in shaping who we are. I aim to provide practical support, tools, and insight that help people build confidence, make informed decisions, and move forward in their lives with greater clarity and self-belief.

Above all, I work with integrity, professionalism, with a compassionate nature. I am committed to ongoing learning so I can provide care that is up to date, ethical, evidence-informed, and genuinely helpful to the people I work with.
